Happy Valley Football Club Under 16's Defeat Reynella

What a big week it has been in football a great man once said and never has it been truer than the past week at the Happy Valley Football Club. A wet week mean that our training was very much modified. After a honorable loss against equal top Brighton the lads came out to play against Reynella in the elimination Final down at Christies Beach. This is the business end of the season and the boys knuckled down immediately and scored first in the big encounter.

Louis Luke given the difficult assignment of shutting down Collinson from Reynella did just that and did not give the Reynella wingman a sniff all day, hence making it very difficult for Reynella to move the ball forward. Beard was great in ruck all day for the Valley and together with Tom Kari gave us the first look for most of the match. Kumnick up forward and then on the wing kicked three and provided a quality target. Down back Spacie, Tate, and Barrett let nothing go through half back and consistently provided rebound. Sexton and Bauer mopped up anything with good judgement and made some great decisions.

Up forward, big Nicho, lead well and fought like the devil to keep the ball in our area, whilst Benno, Mesecke, Eshmade provided targets and put plenty of frontal pressure on the Reynella backs ensuring us many shots at goal. J Kari, Kleeman, Spark, Cummings, Norton and Zeitz all contributed well whereever they were asked to play whilst Peters and Raitt were outstanding in the middle.

The end result was three great quarters of complete team football, running to support, playiong to our structure. This saw us dominate on the scoreboard. The last quarter was poor and not helped by a very average umpiring performance. Reynella fought back but we were too good by about three goals.

It will take an even more disciplined performance and four quarters of concentration to get over a rebounding Brighton at Aldinga next Sunday morning. The boys now have some idea about just what they can achieve if they follow the plan and believe in each other.

Lets get em Vikings.

Congratulations to all of the HVFC sides who competed and won on the weekend. All sides are still alive apart from the Under 16 sunday team who were valliant in defeat against Brighton on Sunday. The SFL refused to budge and we were forced to play 8-9 under 14 boys who had played the day before. Thanks to all the lad who worked hard all year, to the under 14 boys who assisted us and to the parents who bring the boys out every weekend. Both Steve and I are very proud of your efforts. We have seen much imporvement in the group this season and look forward to seeing the boys out again in 2011.

Ramblers on Fire

Hi all,

A great game of cricket played by a slightly undermanned Ramblers team steam rolled Warradale in our last game.

After a spluttering start, John Ferris joined a very proppy skipper to add 138 for the 5th wicket. This enabled us to reach 269 at the end of the day.Week 2 saw John Hilditch rip through the warradale bowling in the second session abely supported by newcomer Andrew Gormlie, Dean McStay and Kingsley Smith. The boys stuck to their task and the game plan and gained the rewards. warradale all out well short of the total.

Ramblers are now on the cusp of the final four but needing to win their remaining games to ensure a finals berth. We cant take the Bulls lightly this week.

Until next time,

Steve Davenport

Go You Good Things

Hi all,

The Ramblers took on arch rivals Coromandel Cricket Club on Saturday in a one day match. After winning the toss I decided to bat and we were quickly out of the blocks. The loss of a few wickets slowed progress and at the end of our inning we battled to an unimpressive 140.

The boys were asked for a special effort given that this was a game was a game we need to win to keep in touch with the final four. Our opening bowlers were outstanding keeping their big guns to 9 runs after the first ten overs. Great fielding and bowling from our entire team saw us bowl out the opposition for 110 and seal the victory.

A great effort that showed plenty of ticker from our lads.

Looking forward to keeping up the enthusiasm and effort for next weeks clash. We cant really afford to drop a game from here on in.

Until next time

Happy New Year

Hi all,

Happy New year to everyone, I trust 2010 will be great for everyone.

The year for us has kicked off already and Xmas and our week off seem ages ago.

Ride Like Crazy has just gone off, thanks to all the wonderful people who have signed to ride. Last years event was huge with 650 riders however this year has exploded and over 1600 people will hit the rode to Ride Like Crazy for the Mick Koerner Foundation. We have produced a huge amount of bike jersies, polos caps and stubby coolers for this event and like all events particularly over Xmas we have gone through the panic of will the products turn up on time!!!! Thankfully all is going pretty smooth.

The weather has been ridiculously hot in South Australia and as such the air-conditioning season has just sailed off the planet. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have pulled some huge shitters with their stock ordering and have not been able to supply the country with anywhere near enough units. That has seen us spread our wings to Samsung and also to Derby who have not let us down. Their brand names are now well and truly on the map not only because of their quality but also with the help of the brand mentioned. We have plenty of Samsung available so please give us a call if you are in need of split system or ducted airconditioning in 2010.

Plumbers also seem to be on the move with much of the Rudd development money in schools made available at the end of 2009. This has seen a huge lift in business for many of the contractors. We may be a small family owned and operated business but we are giving the big multi nationals a huge run with our great pricing and extra ordinary service. If you would like to give us a go and see how we can assist your business then please call me on 0882974028 at any time. We also send interstate.
